Brackens' Butterflies

Brackens' Butterflies are here!

Brackens' Butterflies are here!

Those of you that have followed us over the past few years know that every summer, we here at Brackens endeavor to “raise” Monarch Butterflies and release them back into our neighborhoods.

Sadly, the butterflies have fluttered down south to avoid our winter
weather. But they'll be back again soon! If you want to be a Butterfly Parent next Spring, click the button below to fill out a form or contact melissa.heywood@brackensfsn.com or 315-314-9506.

We'll reach out to you when we have caterpillars ready for adoption!

the man behind it all

the man behind it all

This project is made possible by Brackens's very own Richard “Dick” Cooney.  "Once you’ve seen the transformation, you’ll be hooked for life like I am."

He has a strong passion for butterflies, and every summer for the past 40 years, Dick has gone on the hunt to collect caterpillars that will later transform into butterflies. He has spent his free time collecting caterpillars and building habitats for them out of mason jars and mesh wire.

Check out some of the butterflies we had over the years!
