Dick has almost 35 years of experience in the field of Financial Services first with CIGNA and Lincoln Financial Advisors and now with Brackens Financial Solutions Network. He is a graduate of Cornell University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Sciences in 1973. After receiving his Teaching Certification from Skidmore College, he began a career in education, teaching high school sciences and over a 10 year period worked in private schools as a teacher, counselor, and supervisor.
In 1984, he began his career in financial services as a financial planner with CIGNA Financial Advisors (now Sagemark Consulting) in Buffalo, New York. In 1987, he became assistant manager of the Buffalo office and in 1990, he relocated to Syracuse to manage the area’s planning and sales operations. After a successful career in management, he returned to private practice in 2000. With over 15 years of extensive experience in analysis and case design, it was a natural fit for him to begin to provide this expertise to other advisors in support of their fee-based financial planning. In 2017, he joined Brackens Financial Solutions Network exclusively as their Director of Financial Planning Strategies.
Dick completed coursework through the American College and earned the Chartered Financial Consultant designation. He is a member of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassadors Network, has served on the Board of Directors for the SFSP, and is an active member of St. Lucy’s Church and the Cornell CommuniTree Steward Program. Three daughters occupy whatever free time that Dick and Karen, his wife of 45 years, may still have.
